Ok so after the recent update, i was just watching some GvG's in the observer mode. Suddently at the 20 minute mark i noticed the VoD message coming up. I was like "wtf". I've read the game updates, also checked wiki for more info, but couldn't find anything to clear this out for me.
Is VoD really coming at 20 minutes from now on or was it just a bug ? Did i miss something ?

After hearing about this other places I had to test it for myself, and in a scrimmage with a guildmate, sure enough, VoD at 20 minutes. Not heard more word, but it wasn't an isolated incident.

Give your thanks to Ritual Lord. Instead of fixing a skill that can singlehandedly force VOD all on its own, Anet just brings about VOD faster to shorten the matches. Now everyone will be running Rit lords, or face the consequences at the flag stand showdown.

Since we all know Anet never messes anything up when they do updates I'm guessing that this was intentional.
Sure would have been nice to have been told about it before finding out during a match that a major change in GvG battles had taken place.

At least they made sure to inform us that there is a new trophy in the great temple of Balthazar...

From whats been said this wasnt an intentional update and is a bug. /dunno

personally i think VoD at 20 would be a good idea at times. Ive fought and observed WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too many teams that will be losing at around the 7 minute mark and turtle until VoD. its so god damned annoying... just accept your loss and lets all move on and not drag this out any further

Perhaps this was a temporary change only for the weekend to allow people to use the D and P professions more often? (just a thought)

An update for those not watching observer mode, scrimmaging, or actually in GvGs: I've not noticed this going on since last night, small hiccup last night into early this morning seems to be all it was.
